4. Conclusion Eight filaments of porous and compact scaffolds were studied with the confocal laser microscope to obtain the roughness parameters S dr , S a and S v , which were found to be higher for porous filaments. This indicates their higher resistance to fatigue compared to compact ones, caused by crack - tip shielding effects and fatigue crack path extension.
