Introduction Nowadays, cement concrete is the most common building material. It has many advantages, including flexibility in forming and very good compressive strength. However, it is not without disadvantages, which include very low tensile strength, flexural strength and unfavourable volume changes such as shrinkage, Dadd (2025), Lenart (2019). Of course, these disadvantages can be limited in various ways, such as the use of dispersed reinforcement (fibers), the use of an Abstract The article presents the results of the study of shrinkage of cement composites modified with a polymer additive and cured in three ways: no additional protection against drying covering the samples with a curing agent and covering the samples with foil. The polymer additive, through its structural effect and its distribution in the structure blocking the evaporation of water from the capillaries, caused a reduction in shrinkage by 30%. And with the synergistic effect of the additive and curing the samples under the foil, the reduction in total shrinkage was 65%. © 2025 The Authors. Published by ELSEVIER B.V.
