4. Experimental results

For the practicality of evaluating the TSLs from the strain of the adherents, it was important to make sure to check the values accessible through the test. This refers to the COD and the ERR.

4.1. Evaluation of COD

As mentioned before we were able to compare both methods at the initial crack tip position a 0 . The results of the COD measured with the DIC and those that we got from evaluating the bending of the optical fiber sensor at that exact position were in good agreement. This information gave us a first indicator of the applicability of the new method and can be seen in Fig. 4.
