3. Results and Discussion 3.1. Description of the cyclic transient material behavior from the test data

While in this study only the lengthways extracted specimens were further investigated for the material models, the datapoints for the crossways extracted specimens are also shown in grey in Figure 3. The elastic strain for the lengthways extracted specimens is shown in blue, while the elastic portion is red. The total strain amplitude is given in black. The anisotropy in the strain-life curve is minor. Further information on the comparison of lengthways and crossways extracted specimens is given in (Korschinsky, et al., 2024)

At the same time, Figure 4 shows severe anisotropic behavior in the stress-strain curves. Together with the softening behavior shown in Figure 5 the three main challenges of EN AW-1050A H24 can be presented: • The softening behavior shown in Figure 5 shows no stabilization. While the cyclic material behavior is usually evaluated at 50 % of cycles to crack initiation and assumed to be stabilized there, this simplification is inaccurate here.
