6. Conclusions Based on the findings of this study, the following conclusions are made:  The pre-cracked specimens exhibited similar failure behavior as uncracked specimens, with no significant reduction in ultimate net cross-sectional resistance. This supports the applicability of clause 6.2.3 of EN1993-1 1 for steel plates with bolt holes, even when small cracks (less than 1 mm) are present for the considered steel grade, at room temperature, for the considered hole configurations.  The broken wire electronic binary sensor method is an effective way to detect cracks in the early stages of their growth.  The FAD predicts a similar trend in reduction failure load, which is in line with test results carried out in previous research by Baarssen et al. (2022). Although it is conservativism, it can still be used to predict the ultimate load reduction of other specimen configurations, temperatures, and steel grades. Baarssen, H., Maanen, J. W.
