The 17th International Conference on MECHANICS, RESOURCE AND DIAGNOSTICS OF MATERIALS AND STRUCTURES (MRDMS 2023) The influence evaluation of the roughness direction on fatigue resistance Kuskov K.V. * Industrial University of Tyumen, 38 Volodarskogo street, 625000 Tyumen, Russia This study shows the influence of the roughness direction on the fatigue resistance for the steels 35, 45, 30KhGSA and 40Kh. The theoretical stress concentration factor for the selected samples is calculated in Ansys software and it is 1.019. The samples are divided into two series. The final roughness of R a for all series is 0.11 μm. Fatigue tests are carried out on a servo-hydraulic universal machine TRMC 250S-1. The stress ratio R = -1, the form of loading is sinusoidal, the type of loading is tension - compression. The obtained results show that the direction of roughness affects the fatigue strength from 2 to 5% in the direction of roughness located along the tensile and compressive stresses action. © 2024 The Authors, Published by Elsevier B.V. However, there are studies considering the roughness direction influence on the adhesive coating properties (see Zyuzin A.A. et al. (2015)). Nowadays GOST 2.309-73 "Surface roughness designations" allows one to indicate the required roughness direction in drawings. At the same time GOST 25.502-79 "Methods of mechanical testing of metals.
