4. Conclusions In the present study, defect data referred to a stock of 549 structures were analyzed and commented on with a twofold aim: (i) to provide a qualitative picture of the situation of a national highway that can be considered representative of other Italian scenarios, and (ii) to statistically analyze the observed defectiveness for planning random inspection activities with technical triage methods. For each structure, a defectiveness index was evaluated, which was considered representative of their state of conservation. Such indexes were then elaborated by means of a clustering analysis. In this sense, must be remarked that the clusters were a-priori defined based on the typological characteristics of the structures. The statistical analysis highlighted that by means of this approach, it was possible to identify the most critical structures among those belonging to the considered highways. Also, the defined groups returned sometimes heterogeneous results, such as to highlight the need for more rational and advanced clustering methodologies. Despite this, the study confirms the availability of territorial approaches for the tasks that the ANSFISA agency is called to exploit. References Adey, B., Klatter, L., Kong,J., 2010.
