of area or length using weighted matrices value that combine this information with the IQOA classification (Fig.3). The defects are based on the glossary proposed by CETU and adopted by Italian Infrastructure Ministry Guidelines.

The results of this inspections have led to the creation of synoptic tables, which provide a comprehensive overview of the tunnel’s condition (Palemer et al, 2006, Italian Infrastructure Ministry, 2020, Italian Infrastructure Ministry, 2022, Centre d’Etudes des Tunnels (CETU), 2015). The synoptic tables include information such as: • GSI for each fiche • Under thickness in the concrete lining • Resistance of the concrete lining of the vault • Inspection results • Cracks that creates closed areas • Crawlspace • Resonant areas and its extension • Voids inside the lining The integration of these different data sources into a single, comprehensive maintenance strategy represents a significant advancement in tunnel maintenance planning. By combining the insights gained from reverse engineering, the IQOA system, and the synoptic tables, it is possible develop a robust, multi-criteria strategy that effectively addresses the complex challenges of tunnel maintenance. This strategy allows us to prioritize interventions based on a holistic understanding of the tunnel’s condition, ensuring that resources are allocated in the most effective manner. Furthermore, by regularly updating the strategy with new data from the semesterly inspections, it can be ensured a responsive strategy even when adapting to changing conditions within the tunnel. The use of synoptic tables plays a crucial role in maintenance planning. These tables allow the correlation of parameters and highlight priority fiches in terms of maintenance interventions. This provides invaluable decision-making support for the concessionaire. The synoptic tables serve as a dynamic tool that is updated with each new round of inspections. This adaptability has a key-role the long-term sustainability of the tunnel and the safety of its users.
