Fig. 6. Warning Classes and Overall Warning Class distribution of the four risks considered in the Italian Guidelines

6. Conclusions This article presents the results concerning the application of the Italian Guidelines for the classification, risk management, safety evaluation, and monitoring of existing bridges on a sample of bridges investigated by the authors. The peculiarity of the bridge sample lies in the owners of the structures, which are for the majority local municipalities in Italy. After illustrating the main structural characteristic of the bridge sample, it is shown and discussed the state of conservation and the level of risk of a sub-sample through the parameters defined in the Guidelines. Hence, the present work may provide a first large overview of the features of the bridge Italian heritage at the local level, which are mostly unknown at this date. The bridges sample is located in the central-northern part of Italy. Future works may focus on the southern territory, to verify whether the bridges present peculiar characteristics.
