displacement is applied at point P in vertical direction. Steel frames are modeled as linear elastic with a modulus of elasticity E of 200000 MPa and Poisson’s ratio of 0.3. Material properties and model parameters for concrete are given in Table 3.1. First a mesh convergence study with four di ff erent number of elements is conducted and the resulting reaction force-displacement curves are presented in Figure 2. Convergence upon mesh refinement is clearly visible from the reaction force-displacement (both corresponding to point P) curves.
