• Failure propagates both as inter-ply failure at the interface between the plies (delamination) and intra-ply failure at the interfaces between the warp and yarn region inside the plies. • The crack tip speeds are observed to be fluctuating between 1500 m/s and 500 m/s in the curved region whereas for the lower arm fluctuates between 2000 m/s and 1000 m/s. • Intersonic crack tip speed is observed briefly in the arm before full arrest occurs due to the compression of the vertical arm by fixture clamping. • The architecture of the fabric material can play a role in the propagation and speed history of a crack tip.
