Models Validation The validation of the proposed models was achieved by comparing finite element analysis (FEA) load-displacement plots with the experimental plots to assess the reliability of the model's replication in related studies. Failure modes are as well compared to assess the accuracy of the proposed models to simulate the bond behaviour and predict the failure mode of the connection. Load displacement curves comparison The validation of the numerical models was conducted by comparing load-displacement curves of simulated specimens with the plots of their corresponding experimental specimens. The configurations II, II and IV were selected for validation when the defect's size is 2d and 3d to test the model's sensitivity to the defects' location, as shown in Fig. 12.
