As criteria for selecting the optimal maintenance strategy for the technological system, we propose: its readiness function, the mathematical model of which is obtained using the theory of Markov processes. It is proposed to evaluate the reliability of the assembly tools by means of a complex indicator of the readiness factor, which, unlike the previously used indicators, characterizes not only its failure-free operation, but also its maintainability. Mathematical models have been obtained for determining the readiness function of prefabricated cutting tools as a system of sequential elements by means of reliability theory, the application of which can be used at the stage of tool design to distribute a given level of reliability of the entire turning cutter between the elements of its design, and at the stage of operation - to determine the probability of tool failure-free operation taking into account the features of its design. The results of laboratory and operational tests have shown that an increase in the stability of cutting properties of a tool can be achieved by treating it with a pulsed magnetic field, after which the average tool durability period increases insignificantly, but the gamma-percentage period increases by 2 and more times. © 2022 The Authors.
