In recent decades, pipeline transport was mainly used to supply consumers with energy carriers such as oil and natural gas. However, the volumes of oil and gas transportation through Ukraine's pipeline systems have significantly decreased over the past ten years. As for the transportation of oil, the volume of pumping decreased by approximately 4 times, and as for natural gas, it became smaller by more than 3 times. Therefore, the problem arises not only of extending the lifetime of the linear part of the pipelines, but also of ensuring their preservation in the conditions of reducing pumping volumes or using idle resources for transporting other types of products. Recently, the following possibilities of using decommissioned pipelines are being actively considered: the use of pipelines for hydrogen transportation; use of pipelines for transportation and storage of CO 2 ; transfer of pipelines to container pneumatic transport or to pumping of other types of products. Ukraine is a significant global producer and exporter of grain and vegetable oil Radko (2022)). Ukrainian sunflower oil was exported to 107 countries of the world, and its largest consumers are located in Europe (37%), Southeast Asia (29%) and Asia (15%) (this is in Krasovsʹkyy (2022) and on the UKRINFORM website (2022)). Taking into account the decrease in oil and gas transit through the territory of Ukraine in the last time, it is logical that unloaded sections of pipelines appear, which, subject to their modernization or reconstruction, can be used for the transportation of alternative types of products, in particular, vegetable oil. This, on the one hand, will make it possible to extend the service life of existing pipeline systems, and on the other hand, it will save resources on the construction of new pipelines. Improvement of the method of selection of a linear section of a long-term operational pipeline for transfer to the transportation of vegetable oil and the method of project hydrodynamic calculation of the pipeline taking into account the peculiarities of the physicochemical properties of sunflower oil. The above paper examines the principles of decommissioning and conversion of existing pipelines to the transportation of new types of products, with the aim of extending their service life and preserving them. Also, an improved method of hydrodynamic calculation of pipelines for pumping highly viscous Newtonian fluids (vegetable oils) is proposed, which involves the use of a universal formula for the coefficient of hydraulic resistance regardless of the friction zone of the turbulent regime 2. Principles of transferring long-term operational pipelines to another type of transported product in order to extend their service Due to the decrease in the transit of oil, oil products and gas through the pipeline systems of Ukraine, it is necessary to disconnect their individual components: pump or compressor stations, individual units and individual sections or entire lines of pipelines. Thus, separate capacities of the systems are released, which can be used to transport a product other than oil, petroleum product or natural gas, in particular, to transport oil, as mentioned above. Such use of existing pipelines, which are not used for their main purpose, is economically feasible, since the construction of new pipelines is an expensive and long-term process. The use of existing gas and oil pipelines can significantly reduce construction costs, including preparatory and earthworks, and even reduce the environmental impact, as there is no need to build new routes When choosing a pipeline section for the transportation of other types of products, it is necessary to be guided by a number of key factors determined by the features of the product itself, as well as operational and safety requirements. In the work by Zapukhlyak et al. (2022a) stated that when selecting sections of the linear part of gas pipelines for further operation in the conditions of transportation of gas-hydrogen mixtures, one should be guided by their technical condition from the point of view of reliability, i.e., for the transportation of gas-hydrogen mixtures, pipelines with higher reliability indicators should be selected, which in the short term are not will have to be repaired. In the conditions of the transition to the transportation of products that have a lower impact on the material of the pipeline wall and the environment in case of a possible leak (for example, vegetable oil), it is necessary to choose pipelines with lower reliability indicators. The selection of one or another pipeline for transfer to the transportation of another type of product can be performed according to the work by Zapukhlyak et al. (2022b) a method that involves the use of a parameter for comparing individual technological objects of a single functional purpose, which is called the defective score ( DB ) and according to which rejection can be carried out. According to this methodology, at the initial stage, emergency
