As for the tool material and geometry insertion into the simulation. The tool’s material, WC-Co, is already defined in the software’s library, with this model being chosen. Regarding the geometry, the tool’s tip was recreated using 3D modelling software. The tools geometry can be observed in Fig.6.

Regarding the simulation parameters that were used, these can be observed in Fig. 7., regarding the process itself, the mesh parameters for both tool and workpiece, as well as contact parameters.

3. Results and analysis 3.1. Cutting forces
For each set of cutting parameters, three force components of the resultant force (F p , F f and Fc) were measured with a new and a worn-out tool, that reached its maximum wear according to the standard ISO 3685. These values for each force component can be observed in Fig. 8.
