The microhardness testing (as shown in Figure 9) of the printed cross-section was conducted to relate the evolution of microstructure (observed in Figure 7) with the mechanical properties of the build. The decline of micro-hardness from the dilution zone towards the top layer well relates with the evolution of microstructure from martensitic microstructure in the bottom layer to a ferrite dominant microstructure in the top layer.
