3.2. Annual Scientific Production Information regarding the annual evolution of the scientific production of data is provided in Fig. 3 where it can be observed that the AM research in the aeronautical field had a drop between 2020 and 2021, mostly related to the covid19 pandemic and its impact on the overall aeronautical and aerospace industries and related research fields. After 2021 a new and slow increase in the production is noticed. A second drop in production is identified in 2023 which is an incomplete year of documentation, not correctly illustrating the future trend of research which are expected to continuously increase.

3.3. Most Relevant Sources A source is any type of document (article, conference paper, book chapter, and others) that has been published in one or more sources in the bibliographic collection. In the present study, 396 documents were published in 185 sources. Table 1 presents the top 10 sources publishing AM/L-PBF research in the Aeronautical Sector, the number of documents published in each and Scopus information regarding the quality and impact of sources. The quality of a journal can be assessed using a journal quality clustering system known as Quartile (Q), where Q1 is the highest level in Scopus indexation which corresponds to the height percentile range from 99% to 75%, followed by Q2 up to 50%, Q3 until 49% and the last and less reliable Q4 category ranging from 24% to 0%. Table 1 also depicts the Hirsh index ( h -index), which represents the number of h published articles by an author or journal (in this case), each of which has been cited at least h times in other articles, translating both the productivity and the citation impact of publications, authors or sources [11]. It can be seen that the open access Materials and Science and Engineering: A , and Materials journals, which belong to a Q1 and Q2 percentile, respectively, are leading the top 3 with 18 publications each, followed by the International Journal of Advanced Manufacturing Technology Q1 type journal. The leading journal also has the highest H-index accordingly to Scopus indexation, regarding the thematic of AM/L-PBF in the aeronautical sector.
