Three specimens have been struck with the energies of 8.55 J, 17.1 J and 25.65 J which resulted in the formation of barely visible impact damages. The damaged area has been evaluated using digital shearography. Corresponding residual strength after impact has been measured. Deformation behaviour and buckling processes have been investigated via three-dimensional digital image correlation technique. Discussion has been further supported by theoretical estimations. © 2023 The Authors. Published by ELSEVIER B.V. Introduction Fiber reinforced polymers find a wide application in industry. Automotive, marine, aerospace, and sporting goods utilize composites with different high-strength fibers owing to their low density and outstanding mechanical properties. Thus the engineers provide more lightweight designs while maintaining equal or improved safety and durability. Excellent performance and wide tuning abilities of their properties are relevant to carbon fiber reinforced 16th International Conference on Mechanics, Resource and Diagnostics of Materials and Structures (MRDMS 2022) Evaluation of impact properties and residual strength of quasi isotropic carbon-fiber reinforced laminates using digital image correlation Alexander Eremin*, Mikhail Burkov, Pavel Luybutin, Alexey Bogdanov Institute of Strength Physics and Materials Science, 2/4 Akademichesky avenue, Tomsk, 634055, Russia
