Fig.2 shows the results of structural studies of dynamically loaded specimens using the FEI PHENOM G2 ProX scanning electron microscope. The study was conducted for specially shaped (U-shaped) specimens of AlMg6 alloy, which were deformed on the split Hopkinson pressure bar under predominant shear conditions. The regions of localized shear include both single crystals and crystal packets.
