Fig. 2 shows the measurement results of distributed and point FOSs under different loads applied to the uniform strength beam.

The difference between the two measurement systems does not exceed 1.5%. The DFOS provided the measurement of strain with a spatial resolution of 2 mm, where each measurement point is calculated on the basis of 10 mm (gage length). To create a non-uniform strain field under load, fiberglass samples with triangular and round cutouts were used. Optical fiber with FBGs was embedded into these samples at the manufacturing stage in accordance with the scheme in Fig. 3.
