Patch with conservation of the surface and its thickness In this analysis, the repair was done by different patch shapes having the same surface (Fig. 6) and differing only in their geometry. Their effect on the level and distribution of the shear stresses in the adhesive layer are shown in Fig. 13 and 14. These results shows that in terms of relaxation of these stresses, the repair using an elliptical patch is the most effective and, whatever the plane of the structure (Fig 13a, b and c).
