7. Conclusion To sum up, because oil products are extremely complex mixtures and corrosion is a complicated process, there is no specific reason that stands primarily behind the corrosion mechanism in Banias-Homs' oil-products pipeline. The varying conditions of the fluid of gasoil and gasoline, which in some cases is home-refined while in others is externally imported, as well as the harsh flow factors associated with the transportation process, such as high operating pressure, relatively large roughness of the pipe surface, topology profile fluctuations, and finally the corrosion susceptibility of the pipeline grades, all contribute to the degradation of pipeline quality.
