4. Fracture Simulation 4.1. Simulation of the flow and crack in two holes

Due to the symmetrical geometry, Fig. 5 (a, b) shows the quarter block with the two holes. The right and left sides represent the injection and production wells, respectively. Then the cracking surface and direction can be estimated from the flow direction, see Fig. 5c. Actually, these results agree with Franc2D where the crack was propagated under the same proposed pressure. The crack direction was verified with experiments from the literature. The crack propagation corresponds with the flow direction, see Fig. 6. Therefore, an interconnected was obtained between the permeability, velocity flow, and cracking behaviour.
