Figure 6 SEM Image of S3

Figure 7 Digital Microscope image of S3-A The following samples S19, S19-A, S21, and S21-A have been examined and acquired their micro images as can be seen in Figures (8), (9), (10), and (11) respectively. In S19 and S21 it can be seen dark spots on the worn surface which is due to surface corrosion. Comparing S19, and S19-A where both have a contact load of 1400N it can be found that abrasive wear is the dominant, and adhesive wear can be found under rotational and combined sliding and rotational. In addition, the presence of ROP has caused delamination in several locations on the worn surface with solid particles. When the contact load decreases to 1000N as in S21, S21-A, the abrasive wear is dominated and the adhesive wear decreases under rotational only. Furthermore, axial abrasive wear can be found with deep groves under combined rotational and sliding.
