ESIS_NEWSLETTER_July_2024

Editorial by the ESIS President The ECF24 is just a few weeks ahead of us. More than 600 papers and particpants are expected to make another great event in ESIS history. Zagreb and Željko Božić with his team are ready and eager to host us in the last week of August, including the Summer School on Fatigue and Fracture Modelling and Analysis. All information about the ECF24 can be found on the website ( LINK ). Submission of abstracts is officially open until 15th July.

In the first half of 2024 ESIS activities were intensive, including a number of supported conferences and events, as you can see in this issue of Newsletter. The ExCo had an online meeting on 16th of April with usual Agenda and focus on ECF24. In the meantime, 4 SIs (IJF, EFA, EFM and TAFM) from ECF23 are completed. In total, 57 papers are published, just in time, before the new action after ECF24. Agreement with Elsevier for the period 2024-2026 (3 years) is signed and sealed! I kindly remind NGs chairpersons to settle the membership before ECF24 to become eligible to vote at the ESIS Council meeting. One of the important issues will be the bid for ECF26 in 2028. So far, two bids have been proposed: Seville and Rome. TCs are active as always, some more, some less… The new one, TC19, on Data-driven methods and machine learning applied to structural integrity, is now launched with the aim to follow these methods in connection to Structural Integrity and to open new research possibilities that will strongly impact practical application of theoretical knowlegde. I would like once again to remind all TC chairpersons to use our website for all information regarding their activities, past, present and future. In 2024 the Procedia Structural Integrity so far has released 9 new issues (Volumes 52-60, (https://www.sciencedirect.com/journal/procedia-structural-integrity/issues), what is far the most ever since the starting year 2016. In total more than 4,000 pages and about 700 papers are published, in the scope of the following Conferences: FDSHM, ESIAM23, ICSI 2023, ESICC 2023, FatDes 2023, ICSID 2023 and ICONS 2023. As previously announced, the ESIS Publishing House (ESIS-PH) enables ESIS members to publish Monographies and Scholarly Editions, edited volumes and special technical publications. All the volumes, are published as "Open Access", being completely free of charge both for authors and for readers. In the meantime, a new service has been established, ESIS preprint service (ESIS-PS), inspired by ESIS aims to develop and extend knowledge in all aspects of Structural Integrity and disseminate that knowledge worldwide to improve the safety and performance of engineering equipment, individual components and structures. ESIS Preprint Service (ESIS-PS) is an online archive containing works or data that are focused on ESIS topics. It is not necessary to be an ESIS member to upload works or data in ESIS-PS. A DOI is assigned to all the accepted files. The server maintenance is sponsored by ESIS, courtesy by our major driving force - Francesco Iacoviello. Aleksandar Sedmak
