3. Results The FE solution of the application of the PTS on the test cylinder is displayed in Fig. 7(a) and (b) in terms of the evolution of the temperatures and stresses in the material. The evolution of temperature of the water is shown in green in Fig. 7(a) together with the temperature at the inner and the outer surface. Fig. 7(b) shows the radial, circumferential and axial components of the stresses.

The experimental results are presented in Fig 8. In (Merkert 2002), the post mortem crack profile as shown in Fig. 8(a) in which the clearly visible crack initiation and arrest crack fronts was reported. Also, the COD measured during the experiment was reported. For the present analysis, the average COD was determined and is displayed in Fig. 8(b).
