Testing these and other hypotheses by updating the mid-processing software to include increased functionalities would further clarify the potential of ironing in improving the performance of fused filament fabricated parts. The authors suggest that future software environments include an ‘ironing-warping related’ option. In conclusion, the authors consider that controlling the warping potential of some FFF materials can significantly widen the applicability of related products. Moreover, ironing and ironed derived mid-processing stages in FFF could be a simple and e ffi cient solution to tackle current issues of such additively manufactured components.
