D B E Mand F E Mapproaches, both in the initial configuration and after one step of crack
propagation (even if, in the latter case the maximumcrack advances adopted in F E M
and D B E Msimulations were slightly different). Consequently, also for this case of a
SEN-specimen under torsion loading the functionality of the three codes (BEASY,
C U R V E D C R AanCdKA D A P C R A C K 3aDnd) the validity of the proposed 3D fracture
criteria is confirmed.
Moreover it can be pointed out the higher efficiency of the D B E Mapproach in the
pre-processing phase, due to the inherent method peculiarities
(lower mesh
dimensionality).
